2027 Presidency: We’re Not Wooing Jonathan, Says PDP
Individuals’ Progressive faction (PDP) has denied reports that it welcomed previous President Goodluck Jonathan to join the 2027 official race on its foundation.
Agent Public Exposure Secretary of the PDP, Ibrahim Abdullahi, denied the reports in a meeting with BBC Hausa, saying the party didn’t give its official pass to Jonathan.
He said, “The report that PDP has given its official pass to previous President Goodluck Jonathan or welcomed him to challenge the 2027 official political decision isn’t correct.
“What happened is this: I had a meeting with a columnist where we examined a few issues. In any case, throughout the meeting, he referenced President Jonathan, getting some information about our assessment of him, since reports that he is are being asked to run for the administration.
“I answered by saying that he (Jonathan) is qualified to challenge the political decision, since he is a Nigerian and has the option to do that by the arrangement of the law, he actually has another term left. Thus, there is nothing out of sorts about him challenging the official political race since he is qualified even with the law.”
He likewise added that PDP had done what’s necessary for Jonathan and as an individual from their party, it was absolutely impossible that they would charm him.
