Those Who Collected Money For Alaafin Stool Will Be Prosecuted – Governor Makinde
Seyi Makinde, the legislative head of Oyo, says the individuals who got pay-offs for the choice of the Alaafin of Oyo assign would be indicted.
Makinde talked on Monday when he introduced the staff of the workplace to Abimbola Owoade, the new Alaafin of Oyo.
The introduction of the staff and endorsement of acknowledgment occurred at the Oyo state government house in Ibadan, the capital city.
Makinde reported Owoade as the Alaafin-assign on Friday in spite of pushback from a five-part group of the Oyomesi (kingmakers).
Those in the group demanded Lukman Gbadegesin as their favored decision for Alaafin.
In July 2024, different two individuals from the Oyomesi told the Monetary and Monetary Wrongdoings Commission (EFCC) that Gbadegesin offered every one of the five kingmakers N15 million during the Alaafin choice cycle.
While introducing the instruments of office to the ruler, Makinde repeated that the Alaafin stool wouldn’t be available to be purchased under his supervision.
He added that the people who tried to weaken the conventional organization in the state will be arraigned.
“The public authority isn’t letting down. We will indict them. The cash they gathered, they will in any case be arraigned,” the lead representative said.
“But they go to Kabiyesi and apologize; in the event that he pardons them, I will likewise excuse them.”
The lead representative further said there was no political thought in endorsing Owoade as Alaafin.
He said he had neither addressed Owoade nor met him or both of different rulers challenging the stool.
This, he expressed, was to permit him to be unbiased in his choice.
“Certain individuals said perhaps it was political thought. No. Governmental issues, electioneering is a game,” he said.
It’s just when you have been chosen that administration turns into a serious business since you will take choices that will influence a large number of individuals. In this way, we won’t wade into controversy with administration.
“Allow me to say this obviously: when we came in 2019, we had difficulties with the conventional organization in Ibadanland, and it has been made plans agreeable to everyone.
“The Alaafin stool became empty in 2022. We were moving towards the political decision, and individuals said, ‘you need to support the arrangement of Alaafin; in any case, Oyo individuals wouldn’t decide in favor of you’.
“I said, ‘individuals shouldn’t decide in favor of me, yet that I would make the right decision,’ and Oyo decided in favor of me enormously. Also, Oyo will in any case keep on deciding in favor of me.”
Makinde said the royal celebration will happen in about a month, adding that, “on that day, I’ll talk”.
