Senate Committee dismisses Natasha’s petition against Akpabio

The Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions has disregarded Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s sexual harassment and abuse of workplace petition towards Senate President Godswill Akpabio, putting forward it “ useless on arrival”.

The committee on Wednesday, March 5, referred to procedural violations and criminal constraints

During the probe session, the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Neda Imasuen, referred to Order forty of the Senate Standing Orders, explaining that Akpoti-Uduaghan signed the petition herself as opposed to having it recommended with the aid of using any other individual, thereby rendering it procedurally invalid.

Additionally, he stated that the topics raised withinside the petition had been already earlier than the court, making them sub judice and past the Senate’s jurisdiction.
