Defence headquarters warns former soldiers against protests
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has warned discharged soldiers protesting at the Federal Ministry of Finance over the safety Debarment Allowance (SDA) to desist, describing the demonstrations as unlawful.

Director of Defence Media Operations, essential popular Markus Kangye, issued the warning on Friday, September 5, saying the protests were obstructing reputable activities at the ministry and could not be tolerated.
“The Defence Headquarters acknowledges freedom of valid protest, but the veterans are strongly suggested to trade with warning and vacate the premises of the Federal Ministry of Finance on the way to pave method for regular authorities functions to be seamlessly conducted,” Kangye stated.
He clarified that neither the government nor the DHQ owed retired infantrymen any SDA, explaining that bills were being made consistent with relevant wage charts. “Gratuity and SDA are calculated primarily based at the salary chart effective on a soldier’s date of retirement,” he stated.
Kangye cited that those who retired between January 1 and July 28, 2024, fell beneath the pre-minimum salary chart, at the same time as retirees from July 29, 2024, onward have been positioned underneath the minimal salary chart following the implementation of the new wage shape.
“sadly, squaddies who retired before the implementation date have insisted their advantages need to be calculated with the new minimum wage chart, which isn’t possible. government guidelines have powerful dates of implementation and this case cannot be an exception,” Kangye stressed.
He urged the ex-soldiers to admire laid-down tactics and desist from similarly illegal demonstrations.
