ASUU suspends two-weeks warning strike
The educational personnel Union of Universities (ASUU) has introduced the suspension of its two-week caution strike, which started out on October thirteen, 2025.

The union said the suspension of the caution strike, which used to be due to expire subsequent Monday, October 27, observed renewed commitments from the Federal authorities to deal with key problems raised through the union.
ASUU had launched into the commercial motion after the expiration of an earlier 14-day ultimatum issued to the government, mentioning what it described as “continual neglect and insincerity” in resolving long-status demands contained in the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement.
The demands consist of the fee of withheld salaries, promotion arrears, earned educational allowances (EAA), release of 0.33-birthday party deductions, and revitalisation investment for public universities.
Addressing a press convention in Abuja this morning October 22, the national President of ASUU, Professor Chris Piwuna, said the strike was once suspended on the union’s govt meeting that ended inside the early hours of Wednesday.
He stated there might were no caution strike in any respect if the government had been sincere with the negotiation from the onset. He commended the intervention of the Senate, which made it possible for the union to reflect onconsideration on the suspension of the strike movement.
“NEC resolved that the warning strike is hereby suspended with immediate impact. should the authorities fail to deal with the troubles within one month, ASUU reserves the proper to return to its preliminary selection,” Piwuna stated
