Inspector-trendy of Police, Tunde Disu, has declared a nationwide crackdown on jungle justice and mob violence, warning that everyone involved in assaulting or killing a suspected criminal outside the regulation will face crook prosecution.


The IGP gave this directive in a video message on social media.

in line with the IGP, the directive have become expedient amid growing instances of extrajudicial ok!llings and the movement of films showing alleged mob attacks throughout the country.

He made connection with applicable provisions of Nigerian regulation, stressing that folks that participate in mob attacks ought to face serious crook fees.

 

“everybody who assaults or summarily executes a suspected crook in the call of mob movement is responsible of murd£r. And the punishment for homicide is demise.”

“section 319 of the criminal Code and segment 221 of the Penal Code, each prescribe the demise penalty for murd£r in Nigeria,” Disu said

The police chief also warned that crook legal responsibility would not be constrained to folks who bodily attack or kill sufferers.

in keeping with him, those who organise, inspire or facilitate mob assaults could also be prosecuted for conspiracy.

“people who video the occasion and flow into them, individuals who take pics and circulate them, and people who mobilise the group, or those who block the police from intervening, all of them are accountable.

“they are guilty of conspiracy to dedicate murd£r. And the punishment for this is 14 years imprisonment” he introduced.

Disu said he had directed police commissioners throughout the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to adopt a more competitive approach to instances regarding mob violence.

Disu continued: “i have directed all the Commissioners of Police in the 36 states of the federation, such as the FCT, to deal with each case of mob motion as murder.

“And to carry out full-scale investigations the usage of all of the forensic equipment and intelligence tools available to the police.

“We aren’t going to spare every body who is worried in mob action. we can do an intensive research, and we can take them to court.

“we are able to prosecute them, and we are able to make certain that justice is done. There’s no exception to this.”
