American returnee and his gang members kill Uber rider in Lagos

The police in Lagos state have captured a 21-year-old US returnee, David Segun, and two others for supposedly killing a Uber driver in the Obalende area of Lagos state on January 9.

Affirming their capture to newsmen, the state Magistrate of Police, Ishola Olanrewaju, expressed that Segun and his companions, Emeka Akwara 19, Samuel Ariori 21 and Lukman Ariori 19, requested a Uber ride from Chevron in Lekki to Obalende at 12 PM on Thursday, January 9 and when they got to Obalende, collaborated to kill the Uber rider and trucked away his vehicle.

“On January 9, 2025, at about 12 PM, an instance of trick, equipped theft and m#rder was accounted for. One Emeka Akwara 19yrs, David Segun, 21yrs, Samuel Ariori, 21yrs and Lukman Ariori, 19yrs requested a Uber at Chevron in the Lekki region – in transit to Obalende. On getting to Obalende in a desolate region, they burglarized and killed the Uber driver by st@bbing him on various occasions in the neck, tragically, they couldn’t grab the vehicle.

With the intercession of good Samaritans inside the environs, two suspects were promptly captured and were given over to police agents appended to Lion Building. “

CP Ishola referenced that two other escaping suspects were captured in the Chevron region of the state.

While pointing at him, Olanrewaju said,

“This is their group chief. He was sent home from America by his dad. The mother at home might in any case not handle him. The disappointment of society is put on the police. We are not grumbling, it is a task we pursued. They will confront criminal arraignment right from Monday. I wonder the worth of what this vehicle will get in the market that made them snuff the existence out of the proprietor. Most likely the man even took the vehicle on employ purchase”he said

The police manager said the cadaver of the departed has been kept in the funeral home at Central area Clinic, Yaba.
