Bill on diaspora voting passes second reading
A bill to revise the Nigerian Constitution and consider diaspora casting a ballot has effectively passed its second perusing in the Place of Delegates on Wednesday, November 20.
The bill, co-supported by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen and Agent Sodeeq Abdullahi, tries to alter the 2022 Electing Act to set out open doors for Nigerians living abroad to take part in races.
The bill at first passed its second perusing in July and was accordingly alluded to the Advisory group on Discretionary Issues for additional thought. After effectively passing the second perusing this week, it has now been alluded to the Constitution Change Board for extra regulative activity.
Whenever passed into regulation, the revision would permit Nigerians in the diaspora to cast a ballot in later races, a move pointed toward guaranteeing more prominent consideration and cooperation of residents living abroad in the majority rule process.
