Davido becomes GRAMMY voting member for 2026 awards

Afrobeats big name Davido has been inducted as a voting member of the Recording Academy, the frame chargeable for the GRAMMY Awards.

the new function makes him a part of the global community of tune experts who decide nominations and winners for the 2026 GRAMMYs. The Recording Academy confirmed his inclusion in an Instagram put up on Tuesday, September 23, providing Davido alongside other newly admitted individuals.

“growing a tune or an album takes coronary heart, time, and determination. That’s why Recording Academy participants such as #Davido … are sharing why your participation subjects,” the Academy wrote.

Davido, who received 3 GRAMMY nominations in 2024, will now have a say in both the nomination and final-ballot stages of the awards process. Reacting to the milestone, the singer defined it as a “recreation-changer.”

“grasp the importance of how our voices are heard, i am collaborating inside the GRAMMY Award technique. balloting empowers you to have a say in what is taken into consideration and voted on every season. i am honoured to be a part of the Recording Academy network, and that i look forward to vote casting,” he said.

His inclusion comes because the Academy maintains efforts to diversify its club, with developing representation from African and other international artists. balloting for the 2026 GRAMMYs opens on October three.
