
Former Super Eagles coach, Christian Chukwu, dies at 74
Legendary Green Eagles captain and Super Eagles train , Stephen Chukwu, has died on the age of 74.
Announcing his dying on social media, former teammate and fellow soccer icon, Dr. Olusegun Odegbami, mourned wrote;

“I simply obtained the information that among 9:00 and 10:00 this morning, ‘Chairman’ Christian Chukwu, MFR, my bosom buddy and group mate, one of the finest soccer gamers in Nigeria’s soccer history, former captain and train of Nigeria’s country wide soccer group , has exceeded on. Babuje, Emmanuel Okala, MON, gave me the unhappy information a couple of minutes ago! May ‘Onyim’ discover peace with Our Creator in Heaven, and console his family.”
Chukwu, affectionately called “Chairman”, become a pillar of Nigerian soccer , famend for his contributions each on and stale the pitch. He captained the Green Eagles to their anciental 1980 African Cup of Nations victory and later went directly to train the country wide group , together with main Nigeria to the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals.
Back in 2021, rumours of Chukwu’s dying unfold widely, prompting him to publicly refute the claims in the course of his seventieth birthday celebration.
The reason of his dying is but to be made public.
