Lagos 2027: Archbishop advocates for Muslim governor
The Most Reverend Isaac Ayo Olawuyi, Diocese supervisor of the Methodist Church Nigeria Lagos, has required a Muslim lead representative to be chosen in Lagos State in 2027.
As per reports, the ongoing lead representative, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a Christian, will finish his second term in 2027, stamping 12 successive long stretches of Christian initiative in the state.
Talking at the 22nd Yearly Thanksgiving Administration of the Lagos State Place of Gathering, themed “The Voice of Kindness,” Ecclesiastical overseer Olawuyi underlined the significance of strict resistance. He recommended that it would be suitable to permit a Muslim to assume the job of lead representative after Sanwo-Olu’s residency.
The Diocese supervisor noticed that beginning around 2015, the governorship has been held by Christians — Akinwunmi Ambode, who served a solitary term from 2015 to 2019, and Sanwo-Olu, who is at present in his subsequent term.
“It would be 12 years in 2027 that we have had Christians as lead representatives. Presently, now is the right time to allow our Muslim siblings an opportunity to lead Lagos State,” he expressed.
He likewise reviewed that from 1999 to 2015, Lagos was administered by Muslims — Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Babatunde Fashola — before the progress to Christian administration. The assertion was given by Eromosele Ebhomele, Boss Press Secretary to Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.
