Update: Photo of Nigerian man extradited to US for alleged sextortion scheme that led to 17-year-old boy’s suicide
A 24-year-old Nigerian man, Hassanbubhussein Abolore Lawal was removed to the U.S. subsequent to being prosecuted for supposedly working a s3xtortion plot that prompted a South Carolina youngster’s passing by self destruction.
The U.S. Lawyer’s Office for the Locale of South Carolina said in a public statement on Monday, January 27, 2025, that Lawal of Osun State, has been prosecuted on charges of: kid double-dealing bringing about death; the creation and circulation of youngster s3xual misuse material; compulsion and temptation of a minor; cyberstalking coming about in d3ath; highway dangers with goal to blackmail; and helping and abetting.
The charges originate from an examination concerning the demise of 17-year-old Gavin Guffey, child of a South Carolina legislator, who passed on by self destruction in July 2022 in the wake of falling into Lawal’s supposed plan.
Lawal acted like a young lady via virtual entertainment and persuaded the high schooler to send compromising photographs.
After the teen sent the photographs, Lawal sent bothering messages to him, taking steps to release the photographs and ruin his standing except if the adolescent sent him cash.
Lawal is blamed for later doing likewise to Guffey’s relatives.
