Nigerian gospel musician Asu Ekiye has addressed the situation surrounding his split from his wife, refuting assertions that he was the one to file for divorce.

This statement comes just two days after the performer shared news of the conclusion of their 28-year marriage through social media, which drew significant attention from fans and the gospel community.

In a subsequent post on his official social media account, the experienced artist disclosed that it was his wife who took steps to end their marriage. Ekiye mentioned that she gathered her things and abruptly concluded their relationship, without any prior arguments or misunderstandings.

The artist expressed that he made several efforts to mend their long-term marriage. Nonetheless, his attempts were unsuccessful as she went ahead to initiate the divorce and finalize the process legally.
